Bajaj Auto recently announced the introduction of the new Bajaj V12 under the V brand. The bike is based on the Bajaj V15 platform and shares a lot of components with the bike. While Eric Vas, President – Motorcycle Business, Bajaj Auto, revealed that the bike will be priced at INR 56,200 (ex-showroom Delhi), the exact launch date or booking details were not announced. Sources reveal that the Bajaj V12 will be launched silently in the coming few days. We contacted a few Bajaj dealers in Mumbai and got to know that the dealerships have already started taking bookings for the bike. The new Bajaj V12 will use the metal of the iconic INS Vikrant warship in its construction. The V12 is a premium commuter which will be positioned between the Bajaj V15 and the Discover 125. The company has already started production of the V12 at its factory in Chakan, Pune. The design of the bike is unique that comes with a commuter friendly riding posture emblazoned into a cafe racer silhouette. The bike rides on 18-inch front wheels and 16-inch rear wheels. Suspension duties are carried out by a telescopic forks upfront and twin spring shock absorbers at the rear. Braking power comes from 240 mm disc brake upfront and a 130 mm rear drum brake. Bajaj Auto has sold over 1.6 lakh units of the Bajaj V15 and with the launch of the V12, the company expects to sell 2 lakh units of the Bajaj V in India by the end of 2016. The new Bajaj V12 will be powered by an updated 125cc single-cylinder, BS-IV compliant engine. This is the same engine that powers the Discover 125, but will come with a different state of tune to produce more torque. This engine on the Discover 125 produces 10.9 BHP of maximum power and a peak torque of 10.8 Nm but we can expect to the engine to produce more torque and power on the V12. This engine will come mated to a 5-speed transmission. Also, we can expect the bike to come with the same color options as that of the Bajaj V15 which include Pearl White, Ebony Black, Heroic Red and Ocean Blue.
