New Maruti Ertiga 2018 India launch next year; Price, mileage, image & specs

Maruti Suzuki India is working on new generation Maruti Ertiga 2018 which is expected to launch by second half of 2018.

Maruti Suzuki, India’s largest car manufacturer introduced the all-new Maruti Dzire in India earlier this year in the month of May. With number of products in its pipeline, the Indo-Japanese car maker will roll out models such as Maruti Suzuki S-Cross facelift and new gen Maruti Swift hatchback in the near future. It is also believed that the car maker has started working on the next-generation Ertiga which is expected to be launched by 2018. Code-named as YHA, the new Ertiga will receive a complete makeover on the exterior front & will continue to offer 7-seater configuration. With GST coming into effect earlier this month, the company has passed on the GST benefits to its customers by reducing the prices for the models like Ignis, Baleno & Dzire. Maruti Suzuki Ertiga was initially launched in the domestic market in the year 2012 and later received a major facelift in 2015. With the introduction of new generation Ertiga, the carmaker will look its strengthen its offering the MPV offering where other car makers are making attempts to tap-in. Expected to be showcased at Delhi Auto Expo 2018 as a prototype, the new Ertiga will be based on Suzuki’s popular new generation HEARTECT platform which will also underpins recently launched Maruti Dzire 2017. As the upcoming Maruti Swift 2018 will also be based on the same platform, the hatchback is claimed to be lighter in weight by 120kgs in comparison to the outgoing model. Similarly, the new Ertiga is also expected to shed some considerable amount of weight making it more fuel efficient, better in terms of driving dynamic and safer. With higher GST rates, it is speculated that new generation Ertiga might miss out on SHVS technology. On the exterior front, the new Ertiga will sport family look with design cues from the new-gen Swift hatchback. Upfront, the all-new version of Ertiga will be seen carrying a hexagonal mesh-grille, restyled bumper, all-new projector headlights with LED DRLs. At the sides, the overall appeal of the profile will be similar to the current version except door handles, new alloy wheels and ORVMs. The rear profile of the MPV will flaunt all-new wraparound tail-lamps, new bumper, smaller windscreen and more.

In terms of features, the next generation 2018 Maruti Ertiga MPV will sport a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system, climate control, AC vents at the rear, Android Auto & Apple CarPlay, dual airbags, ABS with EBD, remote keyless entry, push start-stop button with smart key, auto headlamp and much more.

Coming to the powerhouse, the new Ertiga will continue to be powered by the same 1.4-litre K14B petrol engine and new 1.0-litre Boosterjet engine could be also on offer. Moreover, the company has recently completed the testing of new 1.5-litre diesel engine which is expected to be seen on Maruti Ciaz and S-Cross. However, the current generation Ertiga is offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines – 1.4-litre petrol and 1.3-litre MJD plus SHVS. Likely to launch in India by the second half of 2018, the new Ertiga 2018 is expected to be priced in the range of INR 7 lakh to INR 10 lakh along with new set of features and platform as compared to the current model.
