The wait is finally over! For Bajaj Auto has revealed the name and launch date of its first ever 400cc motorcycle. The bike will be called as the Bajaj Dominar 400 and is scheduled to be launched in India by 15th December 2016. Yes, you heard that right! The bike will indeed be launched on this date. According to Bajaj, the ‘Dominar’ moniker is derived from a Spanish word which literally translates into “to excel or exceed in power”. The new Bajaj Dominar 400 is based on the Pulsar CS400 Concept that was unveiled at the Delhi Auto Expo 2014. Also Read: From Bajaj Pulsar CS400 to Dominar 400: What’s Different?
Production for the Bajaj Dominar 400 has already been started and the first bike rolled out of the assembly line from Bajaj Auto’s plant in Chakan, Pune on 18th November. The Bajaj Dominar 400 is slightly different to the Pulsar CS400 in terms of design. The bike gets conventional telescopic front forks in place of the upside down forks on the CS400 concept. Other changes include split seats, redesigned grab rails and revised front and rear fender. The bike sports dual LCD instrument cluster with the secondary display placed on the fuel tank. The Dominar 400 will be positioned as a power cruiser and will come equipped with wide handlebars and an upright riding position. The Bajaj Dominar 400 will be powered by the same 373cc single-cylinder, fuel injected, liquid-cooled petrol engine that does its duties on the KTM Duke 390. While the company has not revealed the power and torque figures yet, a recent leak revealed that this engine will produce 34.5 BHP of maximum power. Although being the same engine, this engine is tuned to deliver better torque delivery at low-end and mid-range to suit the cruising/touring capability of the bike.
