Hyundai India, country’s second largest automaker and largest exporter will be launching the new 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift in India today. Expected to be more premium and feature rich as compared to the outgoing model, the spy shots does confirm the same. The facelifted Xcent sedan is expected to be priced very competitively considering the level of rivalry in the segment. Borrowing design cues and features from Hyundai Grand i10 facelift, the new 2017 Hyundai Xcent facelift will also get 1.2-litre diesel engine from its hatchback counterpart. The bookings for the car have already started wherein interested buyers can pre-book it with an upfront payment of INR 10,000. The exterior design will witness major overhaul which is seen carrying all-new 6-slat hexagonal chrome grille similar to the one seen on the Grand i10 facelift. The overall front end design is accentuated with smoked sweptback headlamps, LED DRLs, new bumper, fog lamps, wider air vents and much more. The side profile majorly remains identical to the outgoing model with side cladding and body coloured ORVMs and door handles. Under the hood, the facelifted avatar of Xcent continues to be offered with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. The petrol variant comes with the same 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine which is tuned to produce 82 bhp and 114Nm of power figures. On the other hand, the 1.1-litre diesel unit is replaced by all-new 1.2-litre U2 CRDi diesel engine which is more refined and fuel efficient. The new engine is capable of producing 74 bhp of max power against the peak torque of 190Nm. As far as the transmission duties are concerned, both the engines will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox as standard. Moreover, the petrol engine will also be seen mated to a 4-speed automatic gearbox as an option. The new Xcent facelift will be offered in 5 variants of which E will be the base variant while the SX (O) will be top end model. Also, the company will also introduce all-new E+ variant. Coming to the interiors, the Xcent facelift will also sport major overhaul inside the cabin with the inclusion of new upholstery, 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, multi-functional steering wheel and much more. In terms of features, the car will bag dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, shark fin antenna, rear seat armrest, audio system, 4-speakers, bluetooth, rear AC vents, electronically adjustable ORVMs, rear power socket and much more. Once launched the new xcent facelift will compete against the likes of Maruti Swift Dzire, Honda Amaze, VW Ameo and Ford Aspire. Having said that Hyundai India will look to keep prices pretty competitive, we speculate that the car will be priced in the range of INR 5.5 lakh – INR 8.5 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi).
