Maruti Suzuki India will be launching the third generation new Maruti Dzire in India today with an aim to strengthen the volumes in the lucrative sub-compact sedan space. Launched in the year 2008, the Maruti Swift Dzire is basically a sedan version of its hatchback sibling – Swift. However, the company now has decided to roll out the new sedan with its own individuality by ditching the Swift prefix from the nameplate. To be derived as Maruti Suzuki Dzire 2017, the sedan will play an essential role in further strengthening company’s hold in the entry level segment space. The company has initiated the booking procedure for the sedan wherein the prospect customers can book the same with token amount of INR 11,000. Maruti’s new Dzire sedan which has been the bestselling car for the Indo-Japanese car maker will be offered in 14 variants across 4 trim levels – L, V, Z & Z+. The new Maruti Dzire will sport new chrome finished hexagonal grille with vertical slats flaunting Maruti logo in the centre along with sweptback head light with LED DRLs (LED projector for top end trim), new pair of fog lamps, wider air vent, new bumper, 15-inch alloy wheels, new LED tail light, shark fin antenna and much more. Inside the cabin, the new Dzire will sport similar cabin space as that of upcoming Swift hatch, however, air vents gets different design element. The overall appeal of the cabin is enhanced by dual tone colour scheme, wooden inserts on door panels, dashboard and steering wheel. Mechanically, the new Dzire will borrow the powerhouse options from the outgoing model which comes with a choice of petrol and diesel engines. The petrol model will come powered by a 1.2-litre petrol engine which will generate 83bhp of max power against the peak torque of 113Nm. On the other hand, the diesel version will come powered by a 1.3-litre DDiS motor that can effortlessly produce 74bhp of max power against 190Nm of max torque. The transmission functionalities will be taken care by a 5-speed manual as standard and 5-speed automatic (AGS) as an option. Likely to be priced in the bracket of INR 5.5 lakh to INR 9 lakh (ex-showroom), the new Dzire will compete against the likes of new Hyundai Xcent, Honda Amaze, Ford Aspire, Volkswagen Ameo, Tata Zest and somewhat with Tata Tigor as well.
