Japanese carmaker Toyota’s Indian arm, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, has recorded a growth of 10% in the Indian car market for the month of November 2016. The company has sold 11,309 units of its cars in the domestic market while the company exported 1284 units of the Etios series in November 2016. The total sales stood at 12,593 units for the month. As compared to the same period last year, Toyota Kirloskar Motor had sold 10,278 units in the Indian market while it exported 1,110 units of Etios with total sales accounting to 11,388 units in November 2015.
This year, the company launched the all new 2016 Toyota Innova Crysta, the new Fortuner and the Toyota Platinum Etios in the Indian car market. The Innova Crysta has been selling in good numbers with total sales of over 50,000 units since launch in May 2016. The Innova Crysta launch was followed by the launch of the Platinium Etios and the Liva hatchback which have been doing good exports since launch. The company recently introduced the all new Toyota Fortuner and within no time, the SUV has clocked well over 5400 bookings in the domestic market. Speaking on the amazing sales numbers, Mr. N. Raja, Director & Sr. Vice President, Sales & Marketing, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said “November has been a very exciting month for us as we launched one of the most anticipated products of the year- the all new Fortuner. We are overwhelmed by the response it has received with over 6200 bookings already. This has also encouraged us to meet the demands and expectations of our customers as we have shipped close to 2500 units of the new Fortuner to our dealerships across the country. The sale of new Fortuner has almost doubled this month when compared to the same period last year.”
He further added, “The Innova Crysta and the Platinum Etios have also done really well this month with the Crysta clocking more than 50,000 units in just six months of its launch in India. Considering that the Innova Crysta falls in the premium MPV segment, achieving 50,000 units is a very important milestone for us and we would only like to pass on our gratitude to the customers who have made it possible.”
“However, demonetisation has had its impact on our sales as it has effected customer walk-ins at dealerships, order bookings and timely deliveries. This will pose as a major challenge in the upcoming days as the customers are still dealing with the effects of demonetisation. Just to help our customers during this phase, we have introduced various cashless schemes like 100% on road funding, payments through E Wallet and Pay TM to ensure smooth & hassle free buying experiences. We thank our customers for their patience and understanding”, continued Mr. N. Raja.
