Volkswagen, the leading German car manufacturer, has today revealed its monthly sales figures for November 2016. The company successfully sold 4,014 units of its cars in the Indian market. Volkswagen registered a month on month sales growth of 107% as compared to the same period last year. During the same period in November last year, the compnay managed to sell only 1,942 units of its cars in the Indian car market. That said, the company recently launched the Volkswagen Polo GTI hot hatch in India.
Moreover, the company also launched the Volkswagen Vento Preferred Edition apart from updating the 1.5-litre diesel engine on the entire Vento line-up. Volkswagen also updated the base variants of the Polo anbd Vento by introducing dual airbags and ABS as standard across variants. Speaking about its success, Mr. Michael Mayer, Director, Volkswagen Passenger Cars India said, “We have witnessed an encouraging growth with our November sales welcoming new members to the Volkswagen family. Earlier this year, we launched the Ameo and were positive that the vehicle would succeed in drawing car buyers’ attention and it has lived up to our expectations.”
The majority of its sales growth is attributed to the launch of the Volkswagen Ameo sub-compact sedan.The introduction of ABS and Dual Airbags as standard across the entire Volkswagen car line-up was another important factor for the company to register such a large sales growth in India. Volkswagen has always been bullish about car safety and the company has set new benchmarks by adopting global standards for all Volkswagen products in India.
Volkswagen India has a wider presence in the Indian car market with an array of offerings across segments. The company currently offers a variety of cars like the Volkswagen Polo, Vento mid-size sedan, the VW Jetta and the Volkswagen Ameo. The company also sells niche products like the iconic Volkswagen Beetle along with the newly launched Polo GTI for its premium customers in India.
