New Delhi, December 7: Chinese handset manufacturer Xiaomi’s Redmi 5A will go on sale for the first time today. The sale will begin at 12 PM on e-commerce major Flipkart and mi.com. Redmi 5A that is touted to be “Desh ka Smartphone” was launched on November 30 at an affordable price of Rs 5,999. Redmi 5A is priced at Rs 5,999 and Rs 6,999 for the 16GB and 32GB variant, respectively. Xiaomi is offering an additional discount of Rs 1,000 for the first five million customers who choose the 2GB RAM/16GB internal storage variant. So, the revised price of the smartphone stands at Rs 4,999.
The Redmi 5A smartphone comes in two variants. The 2GB+16GB variants start at Rs 4,999 for first 5 million buyers post which it will be available for Rs 5,999 while the Redmi 5A 3GB+32GB is priced at Rs 6,999. Redmi 5A goes through the same reliability test as the other ﬂagship Mi phone to ensure its durability and reliability.
Giving a major push to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Make in India initiative, every Redmi 5A will be made in Sri city, Andhra Pradesh, India. “#Redmi5A is being Made in India. 100% if units that we will sell in India, will be made locally in the country”, Manu Kumar Jain, Xiaomi India Managing Director tweeted. To add to the happiness of users, Mukesh Ambani- led Reliance Jio is offering the huge discount on Redmi 5A. Jio is offering a cashback of Rs 1,000 on the device bringing the effective price of the device to Rs 3,999 and Rs 5,999.
The Desh ka Smartphone boasts a 5-inch fully-laminated HD display with a metallic matte finish. The smartphone will be available in three colours- Dark grey, Gold and Rose gold. Redmi 5A runs on a Snapdragon 425 quad-core processor to ensure that you can run multiple apps and games seamlessly. The newly launched smartphone features a 3,000mAh battery and comes with connectivity options like dual-SIM card slots, 4G VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS.
