Day 3 of Commonwealth games begins with a gold as Indian Weightlifter Sathish Kumar Sivalingam lifted a total of 317 kg(114kg+173kg) to win gold in the 77kg men’s weightlifting event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games to secure India’s third gold medal in Gold Coast.It is his 2nd consecutive gold medal as he bagged the gold in Glasgow, Scotland in 2014 too. Sivalingam beats Jack Oliver of England (312 kg total) by 5 kg.It is India’s 5th medal (3 Gold, 1 Silver and 1 Bronze)so far in Commonwealth Games 2018, and all of them have come in weightlifting so far.
President Kovind, Virender Sehwag, VVS Laxman and other celebrities and political leaders wished the weightlifter on Twitter. Sehwag wrote, “And another early morning gift for us, a golden start to the day. Congratulations #SathishSivalingam on our third #GC2018Weightlifting Gold in Men’s 77kg, lifting 317kg. Great effort despite the hamstring injury. His second successive gold after the one in Glasgow. #CWG2018”

Other name of Commonwealth Games is Gold Coast 2018. It kicked off on April 4 with a grand opening ceremony and will last until April 15. A total number of 71 Commonwealth Teams are participating with 275 medals in 19 sports up for grabs.
