Another superstition is that the date associated with such bad fortune began later with King Philip IV of France who ordered the arrest of hundreds of the Knights of the Templar on the date in 1307, and then be tortured and burned alive.
Friday, the 13th is feared so much that people refrain from booking apartment or hotel rooms on this date. People also avoid lodging in room numbered 13th. Several high-rise buildings do not have a floor numbered 13th or the entire floor is kept vacant.
