MGR’s death was the passing of an era that was loved by the people. His death had paralysed the southern state for two days. Madras succumbed to the death with essential supplies being cut off with looting and blazing of shops. Four million people had witnessed the last journey of chief minister. Tamil Nadu chief minister O Pannerselvam had asked the center to issue commemorative coin and special postal stamp for MGR on his birth centenary.(Image Credits- Indian Mirror)
