RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat has been the center of attention in the recent times as various politicians have suggested his name for the throne of Indian President. Bhartiya Janata Party’s ally, Shiv Sena recently nominated the name of Mohan Bhagwat in the presidential race of the fourteenth President of India. The Maharashtra-based party, who has been an open supporter of Hindutva had made this suggestion earlier this week, and according to reports, their suggestion has been accepted. Mohan Bhagwat is all set to become the fourteenth Indian President.
Pranab Mukherjee has been in the office since July 25, 2012, and his five-year term is coming to an end. Pranab Mukherjee’s successor in the Rashtrapati Bhavan has been highly discussed in the recent times. Everyone from business tycoon Rata Tata to RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat was considered for the position. However, RSS chief, Mohan Bhagwat seems to have won the race. This news has brought a wave of shock for many who feel that India is losing its secular stand and becoming a Hindu nation. PM Modi strikes again with Remonetisation! Old Rs 500 and 1000 notes are now legal Currency as 90% black money recovered by demonetisation.
While Shiv Sena has been known as an advocate of Hindutva in India, RSS has been tagging along in the race. This news comes as a second shocker in the year 2017. Appointment of Yogi Adityanath as the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh was the first blow that hurt the sentiments and troubled various believers of secularism in the country. This step is clearly worrying for many who have been impressed by the current president, Pranab Mukherjee and his secular stand on various trivial issues.
While the presidential reign of Mohan Bhagwat will be the true judge of how things go down, this news has managed to upset many who are troubled by the wave of Hindutva-ism hitting India. Mohan Bhagwat’s five years at the presidential house will be a key factor determining where our country is headed.
