Subhas Chandra Bose was born on January 23, 1897, in Cuttack, Orissa. This January 23 is the 120th birth anniversary of Subhas Chandra Bose, fondly known as Netaji for being a revolutionary freedom fighter in India’s struggle for Independence. Indians pay homage to this great leader of India on this day which is also celebrated as Desh Prem Diwas. Subhash Chandra Bose was born in to a Bengali family and his father, Janakinath Bose, was a public prosecutor. He ensured that his son got the best education and got him admitted to the Protestant European School in January 1902. Subhas Chandra Bose continued his education there until 1909 and later on was shifted to the Ravenshaw Collegiate School. He went on to be one of the greatest leaders of the Indian freedom struggle, with his own army. Unfortunately, Netaji died in mysterious circumstances. It was reported that Subhas Chandra Bose died in a plane crash in 1945, but this news is highly controversial and several investigations have been carried out to prove that he is still alive.
