Marriage is a big thing in India and there is always a stress everyone especially women on being perfect shadi material. There is a need for a fitting reply for those who think people should conform to the norms which are largely patriarchal and old school. And the same happened yesterday when Twitter was trending with hashtag #NoShaadiMaterial. Thanks to a social media campaign, the issue is highlighted now. The campaign was started off by channel Star Plus for their new show Ikyawann and same has caught everyone’s attention and women from various walks of life are making sure that they shatter the stereotypes that are still followed to be ‘eligible for marriage’ in a sarcastic way.
Soon the campaign created a stir in social media sites and many women including celebrities like Bani J and Richa Chadha participated and asked questions on whether their not so typical traits can label them ass not so marriageable woman as they are not matching to standards that are set up by society. Check out the tweets here:

Unfortunately, this is one of the prerequisites for Shadi!
Society: Ideal bride should know perfect rotis!
Tattoos, especially on women’s body, is still a taboo
What is important to be noted that that hashtag was started off with the women-centric approach but soon men joined the campaign and asked questions that whether certain criteria like short height and low pay package can make them less marriage material.
