Storm Caroline is currently going towards Ireland with 110kph winds, snow and ice. According to the predictions, some places could receive snow up to 3cm on Thursday and Friday. As a precaution, schools on Lewis, Harris and Uist in the Western Isles will be closed for students. Authorities have also placed speed restrictions in place for services between Perth and Aberdeen and Perth and Inverness as winds of up to 60 mph are expected in the areas.

All train services in the Scottish Highlands were cancelled on Thursday morning after forecasters predicted Storm Caroline may cause life-threatening destructions. On Thursday, the Met Office also raised their weather warning from yellow to an amber “be prepared” for northern Scotland. Localised power cuts are also expected in certain areas.
