Gone are the days when Yoga was just Yoga, today it is a mixture everything cool and natural. While Yoga originated in ancient India, the physical and mental exercises have gone international with a lot of countries following it. After United Nations declared June 21 as International Yoga Day, the popularity of yoga has increased all the more across countries. With Prime Minister Narendra Modi spearheading it, the practice has gained quite a momentum across the globe. However, when it went overseas, it obviously got a few modifications in a bid to attract people. So much so that Beer Yoga has become a thing in the west. After the trend spread like wildfire on social media, here is an Indian version of it- Biryani Yoga.
Taking a dig at Beer Yoga trend, Bengaluru-based standup comedian Sanjay Manaktala has come up with a hilarious spoof on it. Terming Biryani Yoga as spiritual, the video mocks at Beer Yoga which claims to be beneficial. Some Beer Yoga sessions in the West are even held in breweries. One of the people doing Biryani Yoga defines it as, “The thing is biryani is really spiritual, it’s all about taking in the aroma and letting it out, letting it soak into your body. But also about the discipline of not jumping immediately into the biryani.”
Watch the video here:
In the video, yogis can be seen balancing plates of biryani on their backs. They even do a downward facing dog with biryani in front of them. While we hope this spoof does not catch the trend, controlling yourself from having biryani while it is around it is quite a talent. Also, FYI, Goat (live) Yoga is also in trends in the West.
