When Ron and Donna began dating, he asked Donna if she would like some chocolates for Valentine’s Day. Donna said him that she liked dark chocolate cremes from Buffet’s Candy shop. The staff of the shop told him that if he saves the box, they would refill it for him next year as well. And this is how their Valentine’s day tradition started off. This is the 39th year that Ron gifted the same chocolate in the same box.

Unfortunately, in 2014 Donna was diagnosed with dementia and she was moved to a nursing home. Despite that, Ron still goes to give her gift.  “She couldn’t write, she couldn’t speak, she couldn’t go to the restroom, she couldn’t do anything by herself,” Ron told KOAT. “She had to go into a home in August of 2015. And that was probably the saddest day of my life,” he added.

The good news is the Donna remembers him and she knows who he is and that they have been married for so long. “I know I am. That’s why I’m going to keep him. He’s a keeper,” she said. “I married him years ago and I love him as much today as I did then, Donna told KOAT. This couple’s love for each other and their V-day tradition proves that true love does exist. What are your views on the same? Let us know in the comments below.
