Video of UK MP Sir Desmond Swayne Sleeping During Debate in House of Commons Goes Viral, Twitterati Had a Field Day Poking Fun
MP Sir Desmond Swayne of UK could not help but catch a snooze while former chancellor Kenneth Clarke was speaking over Brexit and was caught on camera.
Most of us know that listening to someone delivering a lecture or a speech becomes increasingly boring and makes one almost doze off. We’ve all been there and done that in our school and college but this behaviour is not acceptable in the adult world and in a professional setup. However, MP Sir Desmond Swayne of UK could not help but catch a snooze while former chancellor Kenneth Clarke was speaking over Brexit. A viral video shows MP Sir Desmond Swayne dozing off in the House of Commons while former chancellor Kenneth Clarke was speaking and Twitterati had a field day poking fun at him. The debate was taking place in the House of Commons when Sir Desmond Swayne started dozing off and he was caught on camera taking a nap as he was sitting directly behind Kenneth Clarke who was speaking on the EU Bill. The video might have been an embarrassing one for Swayne but not before it went viral on social media and people had a good laugh as well as expressed their indignation over his power nap. Many Twitter users felt enraged because MPs should not sleep when they are supposed to be working while attending debates and speaking on bills in the Parliament. This is not the first time that an incident like this has happened in Parliament. We often hear of Indian MPs falling asleep in the Parliament and in 2012, MP Stephen Pound was accused of insensitivity as he fell asleep when the grave discussion of deaths of two British soldiers in Afghanistan was being discussed.
