Rani Mukherji’s comeback film ‘Hichki’ is an innocent movie. Everyone is praising the movie as well the character she played in the movie. Undoubtedly, rani is a talented artist and we always have a lot of expectations from her. And every time she successfully satisfies our expectations with her superb acting and entertain us thoroughly. Her current movie ‘Hichki’ hit the theatre today, i.e. March 23 (Friday) across the country. She also kept a special screening for actors and filmmakers.

In this movie, she played a role of a teacher who has a very rare syndrome known as ‘Tourette Syndrome.’ This is a neurological disorder in which a patient has repetitive and stereotyped involuntary vocalisations and movements called tics. The one who suffers from Tourette Syndrome is liable to make some involuntary movements like grunting, facial grimacing, sniffing and arms jerking. This disorder is named after the revolutionary French neurologist, Dr Georges Gilles de la Tourette. And in the year 1885, he described this disorder in an 86-year-old French noblewoman. Though, there are two types of tics characterised by Tourette Syndrome, motor tics and vocal tics. This disorder occurs in one in a hundred individual across the world.

Motor Tics: The motor tics refer to the movements a patient makes when suffering TS such as shoulder shrugging, jaw movements, neck stretching, head bobbing, making purposeful motions like sexual intercourse movements, jumping, twirling, etc.

Vocal Tics: Vocal tics refer to produce various sounds such as throat clearing, sniffing, hooting, shouting, or in complex cases, barking, making of animal noises and uttering inappropriate words are often reported.

This syndrome does not respond to medication; thus, it is advisable to go for psychotherapy according to the doctors. Few famous celebrities like soccer player David Beckham, famous music composers Mozart and Beethoven also suffered from TS. Patients suffering from Tourette Syndrome usually have other behavioural conditions such as Obsessive-Compulsive Behaviour (OCB), Probably Autistic Spectrum Disorders (ASDs), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD).

The exact cause of Tourette Syndrome is not known but it can happen due to genetic or inherited factors. If there is a family history, then an individual is more likely to suffer from the rare syndrome according to the report by Mayo Clinic. According to the Indian Express report, Dr PN Renjen, senior consultant, neurology, Indraprastha Apollo Hospitals said that other reasons could be cord wrapped around the neck, low birth weight, drinking and smoking by the mother during pregnancy.

So, you should go and watch the movie in any of the nearest theatres as soon as possible. You and your family will get to know more about the syndrome and you will definitely like to watch Rani playing this role perfectly.
