Yoga has grown from the traditional practice that helps in bringing in harmony between the physical, mental, and spiritual health to being a form of workout that helps to shed those extra kilos with the help of hot yoga and other forms of exercises. Yoga has evolved and has a huge branch in the modern age that has adapted to the changing age, and there are now weird trends that are catching on in the area of practising yoga. The 5000-year-old practice has already adjusted and transformed into a modern concept with ease and as we celebrate the rich heritage and the history behind the practice of Yoga, here are some of the most bizarre yoga practices and products.
1. Beer Yoga
Beer Yoga is a recent trend that surfaced in Germany where people enjoy yoga and beer equally. The trend caught on internationally in early January this year and beer lovers are now striving to find a beer yoga class near them. The class basically encourages people to practice yoga while having beer and is being considered as a cool lifestyle technique. The main reason behind the popularity of beer yoga is that it is contrary to the popular belief that having beer is not healthy and gives way to belly fat. Beer yoga encourages people to drink and burn the fats at the same time.
2. Nude Yoga
Yoga is said to be a practice that connects our body to our soul and nude yoga is said to be a faster way of reaching this inner self. This hippie movement in Yoga has been around since the early 60s, however, the trend caught on in 2000s and now there are various places outside India that offer Hot Nude Yoga classes and the nude yoga has become a thing now. the bold idea of naked yoga has been tried and tested and there are many who feel much more comfortable in this form of Yoga and claim that nude yoga helps to increase their confidence and love their body as it is.
3. Goat Yoga
This latest trend caught people’s attention on the social media and is not actually restricted to goats. Goats are assigned to crawl on the back of yogis and help them calm in this bizarre trend that began in Oregan, United States back in 2016. The trend that was started by Lainey Morse has spread like a wildfire in the United States and is not just restricted to goats, there are other yoga classes that encourage people to bring their pets along to their yoga classes. This is also an idea that is said to relax yogis at a faster rate as compared to the normal yoga.
4. Mommy & Baby Yoga
This form of yoga is being encouraged to increase the bonding between new born baby and the mother and is said to work wonders in cases of postnatal depression as well. These classes allows mothers to connect with other parents going through similar stages of life and helps them deal with the stress and uneasy feeling that is often felt by new parents. Mom & Baby Yoga also helps to increase the bonding between the child and the mother and is said to develop motor skills in babies.
5. Aerial Yoga
Aerial Yoga is also known as anti-gravity yoga and is the perfect combination of yoga and aerial acts. Anti-gravity hammocks are used by yogis practicing this rather difficult but extremely satisfying form of yoga that improves posture and agility in people. This technique is inspired by everything from Pilates and gymnastics to contemporary dance moves and is said to be designed by an aerial artist.
6. Vibrating Yoga pants
This is not a form of yoga but an accessory that is the latest trend and claims to improve the asana and body postures. New York-based Wearable X launched these activated yoga pants just in time for International Yoga Day and claimed that the pants works wonders for the postures and makes asanas more easily doable. The vibrating Yoga pants come with Bluetooth and have a custom developed language. These pants are said to be the perfect mix of fitness accessory and workout gear.
