It’s that time of the year when people begin looking back at the year gone by. From what we ate to what we saw to what we read, December is the official #throwback month every year. A few days ago, Google released lists of the most popular, book, movies, apps, films and games to name a few. And now, its time for its subsidiary, YouTube, to do the same. On December 6, YouTube released a video celebrating videos, people, music and memes that made 2017. The video is titled ‘YouTube Rewind: The Shape of 2017’. As expected, Ed Sheeran’s Shape of You and Luis Fonsi’s Despacito have made it to the list. There are also some memes and moments which perhaps wouldn’t be on the top of your mind, but were hugely popular nevertheless. So take a look at the video and see if your favourite video, song or moment has made it or not.
The video has been uploaded to the channel YouTube Spotlight with the hashtag, #YouTubeRewind. It has already garnered over 2.21 crore views at the time of writing this story. Besides Shape of You and Despacito, fidget spinner, Salt Bae, Ping Pong Trick Shots and Bad Lip Reading of Donald Trump’s Inauguration Day are the other highlights of 2017. Among the highlights was also the viral video of the historic BBC interview which saw two little adorable kids interrupting the show.
