Sourav Ganguly to become BCCI President!

By 2014

If you thought Dada's time was up, you've got another think coming - the Prince of Kolkata is all set to become the next BCCI president!

Ganguly, who celebrates his 37th birthday today gets a larger than life present in five years time. By 2014, when Jagmohan Dalmiya retires and when the East Zone nominates its candidate for the job, Sourav Ganguly will become the most powerful man in world cricket. And at the young age of 41 at that.

"I am convinced that I can play a positive role," Sourav told reporters in course of an exclusive interview at his Behala residence. "Having played the game at the highest level and being part of the system, I know what it takes to make a difference," he added.

"At some point, I will find a way to get into the CAB where people have known me since I was a kid. I have respect for them and I am sure they will appreciate my concern for Bengal cricket and the difference I can make. I am in no hurry," Sourav said.

Obviously it won't be a cake walk to get into the CAB for Dada, Dalmiya's tentacles spread far and wide, and it is to note that it took close to 15 years for Dalmiya's competitors to finally beat him.

Suggest that to Sourav, and he laughs. "It's a possibility, but right now I am not looking that far ahead. I intend to take it step by step. Five years is a long time...," says Dada. For the record, Dada is India's most successful Test captain to date, winning 21 tests out of 49 tests he captained. He also led Team India to the finals of the 2003 World Cup. Before he retired last year, Ganguly scored 1106 Test runs at an average of 61.44 (including three centuries and four fifties) to become the second highest run-scorer in Test matches of that year!

India.com wishes Sourav Ganguly a Happy Birthday! We hope he becomes the BCCI head honcho as soon as possible!
