After a long tour of Sri Lanka, Indian cricket team will be in action once again as they face Australia at home. Australia’s India tour features limited-overs fixtures only comprising of five One-Day Internationals and three T20Is.
Australia earlier this year toured India for the four-match Test series, which they lost 2-1.
Series against Australia marks another packed home schedule for India. The home side will take on New Zealand and Sri Lanka in back to back bilateral series.
India comes into the series having demolished Sri Lanka in their own backyard. The Virat Kohli-led side remaining unbeaten on the tour, winning all their matches across each format.
India won the three-match Test series 3-0, then the ODI series 5-0 and capped off a brilliant tour with a win in one-off T20I.
Australia, on the other hand, after settling their pay dispute landed in Bangladesh for the two-match Test series. The visitors lost the first Test, but then bounced back to draw level in the series. And then boarded their flight to India for the limited-overs series.
The series provides a good opportunity to for both the sides to claim number one position in ODIs. Currently, South Africa is at number one position with Australia and India at number two and three respectively.
A win for either side by a margin of 4-1 or better will see it move to the numero uno position.
