Every year, the Civil Services Day is observed on April 21. Today, the nation is observing the 11th Civil Services Day. This day, the Civil Servants commit to public service and devote themselves to the cause of the citizens. In the year 1947, on this day, SardarVallabhbhai Patel had addressed the 1st probationer’s batch at the All India Administrative Service Training School, Metcalfe House, New Delhi. Commemorating this day in the year 2016, a two day function was organised on April 20 and 21. In the event, 8 break away sessions were held on the replication initiatives awarded by the Prime Minister and 4 Priority Programmes, the names of which include; ‘PradhanMantri Jan DhanYojana’, ‘Swachh Bharat (Gramin)’, ‘SwachhVidyalaya’ and ‘Soil Health Card’.
This day, the Prime Minister’s Awards for Excellence in Public Administration is also bestowed. On April 21, 2016 (10th Civil Services Day), the Prime Minister’s Award for Excellence in Public Administration were bestowed to 10 best performing Districts. The districts were awarded for their outstanding contribution in the implementation of four identified Priority Programmes, the names of which include; ‘PradhanMantri Jan DhanYojana’, ‘Swachh Bharat (Gramin)’, ‘SwachhVidyalaya’ and ‘Soil Health Card’.
‘Transforming India – Reform to Transform’ was the theme of the Conference. On this theme, an Exhibition on various Priority Programmes of the Government of India was also organized. On Civil Services Day 2016, various books was released, namely; ‘The Change Makers’ ‘Transforming India’ and ‘Re-creating Excellence’ as well as the documentation of Proceedings. The Central/ State Governments’ Departments will share the same soon.
