Telangana, Oct 13: A total of five Telangana engineering students from SR Engineering College have been selected for the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) Human Exploration Rover Challenge. Students of SR Engineering College in Warangal will participate in the 5th annual NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge to be held on April 12-14, 2018, in the United States.
The team has been led by faculty Manoj Chaudhary. The faculty also includes P. Paul Vineeth, Prakash Raineni, P.Sravan Rao, Rondla Dilipreddy Aand Venishetty Sneha, a statement said. One of the four teams from India has been selected to compete in the rover challenge. The challenge would be to create a buggy to traverse the simulated surface of the moon.
Students from 23 countries are participating in the rover challenge. “Only four teams from India were shortlisted to compete in the NASA’s Rover Challenge. Students from 23 countries are participating in this prestigious competition which challenges students to create a vehicle designed to traverse the simulated surface of another world,” the college said in a release.
Reacting to the selection in the NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge, the students said that they are excited and looking forward to this challenge. “Since it makes us think concepts in ‘space exploration’ as a subject, which was something we had never considered before. We are confident our rover will conquer the challenge,” they said.
