The B.Com 1st semester examination was held on February 2 and the results were supposed to be out by April 4 but it was delayed by nine days, thereby making the declaration of results on April 13. The reason behind the delay in results was the slow uploading of internal assessment marks by the Board, said an official. The B.Com. Part I (Honours and Major) examination results were released on January 17 this year. The Calcutta University had already released the B.A., B.Sc. Part 1 exam results on 25 January 2018.
The examination was conducted under the choice-based credit system (CBCS) in B.Com last year. The board’s website also stated that the result which has been published result cannot be treated as original mark sheets. Calcutta University was recently in news for imposing new rules on the students and then rolling them back. This move was taken by the government in order to check the alarming rate of passing percentage among the students. State Education Minister Partha Chatterjee had too expressed concern regarding the issue and called for rolling back of the new rules. He also held outsiders in the university and blamed them for polluting the environment.
