Reports from across the state of Haryana and New Delhi have confirmed that the attendance at the UPSC Preliminary Examination 2017, also scheduled for today has shown lower than average turnout in the first leg of the examinations fir selection of the IAS, IPS and other administrative departments in the Government of India. Not only have the students given it a miss, the administrators have also confirmed unprecedented medical emergencies reported by invigilators on duty, smiling that the fever was not viral but instead related to India vs Pakistan. The two neighbouring countries clash today for the trophy of the ongoing ICC Champions Trophy Tournament. On one hand the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) is conducting the most important Civil Services Prelims 2017 all over the nation today and on the other hand, the most challenging India vs Pakistan Champions trophy is going to start in another few minutes. The first slot of UPSC Civil Services 2017 is over. Amidst tight security, the exam was conducted all over the nation. It has been observed earlier that UPSC Prelims usually gets about 50 percent attendance every year. But this year, due to the clash of India vs Pakistan Champion Trophy match on the same day, the UPSC Civil Services Prelims witnessed a considerably low number of candidates for the exam. It is also expected that the numbers would fall further in the afternoon session.

Breaching the examination centers of UPSC Examinations is next to impossible. However, officials were willing to stop and comment on the high absenteeism reported today. It was only sad, one official joked, how the examination date could not be shifted. As per a few sources, there are centers that are expecting absolutely no turnout in the second phase of the UPS Prelims examinations today. The second paper of the UPSC Prelims Examination would start from 2 pm. With the epic battle between India and Pakistan to start at 2:50 pm today, the invigilators are expecting the candidates who have not fared reasonably well in the first slot to give it a complete miss. A candidate was quizzed as he rushed out of the examination hall if he would be returning for the second paper confirmed that he would be. When asked about the India vs Pakistan match he simply smiled and said that there would still be time to catch India defeat Pakistan after the UPSC Prelims were over.

The forenoon slot of UPSC Civil Services Prelims is over and now the exam for the afternoon slot will be conducted. Candidates who will qualify all the stages of the recruitment process will be selected for the esteemed position in Civil Services. The Civil Services recruitment comprises of the Preliminary phase, the Mains phase and the personality test / interview. Candidates who had appeared for the forenoon slot of UPSC Civil Services Prelims 2017 found the General Knowledge section tougher in comparison to other sections. Candidates who will successfully qualify the prelims round will become eligible for the mains.
