National Board of Examinations (NBE) will be conducting NEET for admission to various PG courses for the academic session 2017 in a few days. The exams will be conducted for NEET 2016 from December 5 to 13. The doctors’ body in Kashmir also stated that the absence of a National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) centre in Kashmir for postgraduate (PG) medical courses has left aspirants in lurch. President of Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK), Dr Nisar ul Hassan stated that the lack of NEET centre for MD/MS/PG Diploma courses would jeopardize the future of thousands of aspiring doctors.
At present there are 86 centres in 41 centres across the country which have been set up. However, what has worried the students that at present there are no centres which in turn will affect the doctors who wished to pursue the PG courses. It has been advised to the candidates to go out of the city for exam which is not practical at the moment due to the weather conditions. Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) have conveyed their apprehensions to National Board of Examinations (NBE) that the doctors of Kashmir will not be able to appear in the test unless the centre is provided. Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) have also appealed to the state government to intervene and prevail upon the concerned authorities to establish a centre in Kashmir. NEET-PG is an eligibility-cum-ranking examination prescribed as the single entrance examination to various MD/MS and PG Diploma Courses as per Section (10) of Indian Medical Council Act 1956. Candidates also have the option of choosing their examination centre, date and session through the online registration & scheduling system. Availability of test centre option is on a first come first served basis, and candidates will only be shown sessions that are available at the point of scheduling. Candidates are also advised to familiarize themselves with the test centre locations and ensure that they report for the test as per scheduled time only.
National Board of Examinations is an autonomous organization established by Government of India in 1982 with prime objective of conducting post graduate examinations on all India basis. Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences (SGPGIMS), Lucknow in NEET-PG 2017 is also clarified that Sanjay Gandhi Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, Lucknow is also a participating institute in NEET-PG.
