Jun. 19, 2017: National Eligibility cum Entrance Test or NEET 2017 Results are expected to be released anytime this week. The last date with CBSE to release the NEET 2017 as per the SC order is June 26. Even though the sources had hinted on an earlier date, there is no confirmation from the officials regarding the declaration of the results. Ahead of the results, however, students and experts are hopeful of extra 8 marks for the ambiguous questions in the NEET 2017 question papers. Experts believe that two questions in Physics section had multiple correct answers and CBSE should confirm awarding bonus 8 marks to everyone who has attempted the questions. Experts from various coaching institutes in Kota and also in New Delhi have pointed out the ambiguity of the questions, sharing that the answers could not be calculated correctly by the students as the questions did not clearly provide the requisite information. Students who have raised the objections, however, are unhappy that there is no official confirmation yet from CBSE regarding the awarding of bonus marks for the incorrect questions. Students and parents had also raised the issue in their petitions to the different High Courts. However, after the Supreme Court order, there has been no notification regarding the same.

Students had expected the same when the NEET 2017 Answer Keys were released by CBSE on cbseneet.nic.in on June 15. However, CBSE has refrained from mentioning anything of the same accord. It would be well to remember, however, that CBSE in the earlier days after the NEET 2017 exam on May 7 had clarified that the ambiguous questions would be dealt with appropriately after consultation with subject matter experts. Whether or not the 8 marks be awarded remains a question that can easily determine the future of thousands of aspirants who have written the examination. As per official figures, around 11.38 lakh candidates have written the NEET 2017 examination for admission into just about a lakh of MBBS and BDS seats across private and State medical colleges in the country. The NEET 2017 Results would finally clarify CBSE’s stance on the questions mentioned. The results for NEET 2017 are expected to be released anytime this week.
