Hyderabad, April 4: The Indian Institute of Technology, Hyderabad (IIT-H), ranked at the 9th position among the top 10 engineering institutes as per the National Institute Ranking Framework (NIRF) India Rankings 2018 conducted by the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India. IIT-Hyderabad climbed a notch higher this year by leaving its 10th position last year. It also moved up from rank 26 to 22 in the ‘Overall Category’ this year.

IIT-H director Professor UB Desai credited the faculty and students of the institute for this stupendous achievement. He said that overall progress in research and development, teaching and institute development led to this victory. Professor Desai also praised the students for bringing awards and recognition to the institute by pioneering in the filed of research and development.

University of Hyderabad (UoH) too has had an impressive inning as it climbed the ranking charts. From 7th position last year to clinch the 5th position in 2018, UoH has improved a lot. Speaking about the institute’s success, Vice-Chancellor of UoH, Professor Appa Rao Podile gave full credit to the university’s stakeholders. He said, “The varsity will redouble its efforts to ensure that it is recognised as a top institution not only in India but also internationally for its quality of teaching and research. We aim to enhance the quality of education and research to produce the best students who will be model citizens of our country and in the process contribute to the world’s knowledge economy as well.”

As per NIRF Ranking 2018, Osmania University (OU) came 45th, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University-Hyderabad was at 42nd position and National Institute of Technology-Warangal (NIT-W) was at 78th.
