A total of 4,810,071 voters, including 2,335,641 women, are eligible to exercise their franchise to vote. These elections will witness a neck to neck fight between Congress and BJP.

AAP is trying to be the third entrant, but the chances are very unlikely. The Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) and the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) have also fielded candidates, but they have apparently not been able to make their presence felt in the state politics so far.The major battle is going to be between BJP and Congress, and it will be a test for the Congress Government.

BJP, which was in power in the state had won three of the four Lok Sabha seats in 2009 Lok Sabha Elections. In this election, all eyes are on two important seats – Mandi and Hamirpur. These states will witness a fierce battle between arch-rivals Virbhadra Singh and Prem Kumar Dhumal.

The constituencies going for polls are Kangra, Mandi, Hamirpur and Shimla. Kangra is the largest parliamentary constituency electorate wise, while Mandi is smallest parliamentary constituency Electorate wise.
