Vadodara (Gujarat), Apr.9: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi arrived here on Wednesday to file his nomination papers for the Lok Sabha elections. The Gujarat Chief Minister is now leading a ‘Vijay Vikas Yatra’, a road show, to the collectorate office to file his nomination papers.
Vadodara is considered a BJP stronghold with the party winning the seat by almost 1.5 lakh seats in 2008. Six of the seven assembly segments in the constituency are held by the BJP while the remaining seat is held by an independent, who is now in the BJP fold.
The Vadodara unit of the BJP has reportedly chosen a tea vendor as one among five proposers for Modi’s nomination. Party sources said tea seller Kiran Mahida will be one of the proposers. Modi is up against Congress candidate Madhusudan Mistry from the constituency.
Modi is also contesting from the Varanasi constituency in Uttar Pradesh.
