Top 5 Bollywood Soundtracks of 2008

The Best of the Best

As the year draws to a close, and as everyone books tickets to invade Goa for New Years eve, the world of Bollywood cashes in on the occasion by releasing the biggest movies of the year and their soundtracks.

But hey, that isn’t necessarily a bad thing, listening to Bollywood songs is rather therapeutic! What party would it be if there isn’t ‘Sindbad the sailer’ or 'Desi Girl' blaring on speakers?

2008 was slightly underwhelming for Bollywood and majority of highly anticipated films fell flat at the box office. Some were atrocious (Golmaal Returns) while the others were just plain bad (Tashan). Some had good songs but a weak script and vice versa.

This week and the next sees two monstrous Bollywood releases, Shahrukh Khan’s ‘Rab ne bana di jodi’ and Aamir Khan’s ‘Ghajini’. Sadly neither of the films’ music albums managed to live up to the escalating expectations, although ‘Rab ne’ features the catchy ‘Haule Haule’ and ‘Dance pe chance’ while Ghajini has ‘Guzarish’ which easily tops the three.

We took some time off from reporting about the Mumbai attacks and gave a listen to hundreds of songs from 2008. So after much bickering, fist fighting and thumb wrestling, we managed to draw up a list of the five albums that we enjoyed the most. I give you the top five soundtracks of 2008. Browse On!
