A star studded Belgium side take on a Lionel Messi led Argentina in Brasilia to decide the third semi-finalist of the 2014 Fifa World Cup. Both sides come into the match winning all their games in the tournament so far but there can only be one winner at the end of this match and hence a first defeat for any of the two sides will see them take a return flight back home.

ARGENTINA : Lionel Messi has been Fifa’s official Man of the Match in all the four games he has played in the tournament so far and his side have rode on his magic wave but there is a growing fear Argentina may lose the plot the if World’s best player has an off day. Coach Alejandro Sabella has spoken of his team not being a one man show and it’s high time Messi’s teammates’ rise up to the occasion. Sergio Aguero has resumed training and should play against Belgium but might not start the game. Defender Marco Rojo’s suspension means Jose Basanta will start his first match at the World Cup and would have to keep a check on the pacy Belgium wingers.

BELGIUM: Marc Wilmots side have entertained one and all with their attacking play in Brazil and have the firepower to knock Argentina out of the World Cup. They have a host of attacking option in Eden Hazard, De Bruyne, Mertens and Origi who can all come up with a goal or make an assist for the side. Belgium’s pace can make the Argentinian back line look ordinary and the central midfield partnership of Marouane Feliani and Witsel would look to strifle Messi by double teaming up on him.


ARGENTINA: Romero, Zabaleta, Fernandez, Garay, Basant, Gago, Mascherano, Di Maria, Messi, Higuain, Lavezzi

BELGIUM: Courtois, Toby, Van Buyten, Kompany, Vertonghen, Witsel, Fellaini, De Bruyne, Mertens, Origi, Hazard

PREDICTION: Belgium should win this match provided they play to their strength and do not let the occasion get better of them.
