Ecuador coach Reinaldo Rueda has been forced to replace veteran midfielder Segundo Castillo with Oswaldo Minda due to a knee injury. Stuttgart midfielder Carlos Gruezo, 19, who won his first two caps last month is also in Reinaldo Rueda’s squad. Ecuador is seen as a surprise name in the World Cup stage but it looks like the South-American team has drawn inspiration from the tragic death of their player Christian Benítez.

It is seen as a daunting task for Reinaldo Rueda’s side to qualify for the next round in their only fourth World Cup appearance. But Captain Antonio Valencia should inspire the side after making the final cut after an injury scare. He will look to put behind the disappointments after a torrid season with Manchester United.
