One name synonymous with German football for the last decade has been that of Miroslav Klose. The veteran striker must have thought his dreams of playing his fourth World Cup have ended when he suffered a thigh injury while playing for Lazio but his coach Joachim Loew showed tremendous faith in him and selecting him despite  the setbacks. When Miroslav Klose put the ball past Julio Cesar against Brazil, the much awaited moment arrived and he became the all- time leading goal scorer in World Cup football. Being largely underrated through-out his playing career, this record is a fair reflection of this legend’s impact in international football.

Miroslav Klose has a pretty modest goal scoring record for the clubs he has played for and this makes him a rare talent–a player who performs for his country more than the club that employees him. In 2010 he had a treacherous season with Bayern Munich yet delivered for his nation in South Africa with four goals including a brace against Argentina in the quarter- final. Klose has been a true performer in every World Cup he has been a part of including the current one in Brazil this time where he has been successful in keeping out the likes of Mario Gotze and Andre Schurrle.

When Miroslav Klose steps onto the field for one last time in a German shirt against Argentina, his side would be hoping to win the coveted trophy after several unsuccessful attempts. Klose knows better than any other player what it feels being on the wrong end of a defeat in major finals. If Germany wins in Rio on Sunday, it would be the perfect ending for an already glittering career of Klose. For the records, Miroslav Klose has played 136 times for Germany and netted 71 goals with his side winning every game Salto-Klose has scored. How the Germans hope he scores again in the Final against Argentina!
