Brazil: The Selecao marched into the semi-final but paid a heavy price on its way by losing star player- Neymar to a back injury. The nasty injury has ruled him out of the tournament. Before knocking out Colombia in the quarters, Brazil barely managed to register victory in the penalties over Chile in their second round match. Luiz Felipe Scolari’s men were touted as hot favourites before the start of the tournament, and have only looked a shadow of themselves as the FIFA World Cup progressed. With a Neymar-less side and also their captain Thiago Silva missing out after collecting two yellow cards, Brazil will need the likes of Oscar, Marcelo to perform exceptionally well against an aggressive looking German side.
Germany: With a quick start against France in their quarterfinal match, Germany continues to prove their dominance in the tournament. This is probably the best chance for Joachim Loew and his men against a Brazilian side that lacks a star perfromer in Neymar. While Brazil have attacking problems, Germany are lucky enough to have two players, Thomas Mueller and Miroslav Klose, who have the an unerring ability to find the net under pressure. With players like Toni Kroos and Bastian Schweinsteiger controlling the midfield, it would be difficult to break Germany’s resistance at the center. The side are trying to better their record of a third place finish from the past two World Cups and they must improve their performance if they want to lift the coveted trophy.
