Arlington Heights Mayor visits ALOHA Center

Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes was the guest of honor at the Mount Prospect ALOHA Mind Math Center’s annual open house on August 23.

Arlington heightsHi India LiveARLINGTON HTS (IL) — Arlington Heights Mayor Tom Hayes was the guest of honor at the Mount Prospect ALOHA Mind Math Center’s annual open house on August 23.

Mayor Hayes presided over the main program of the day that included a program overview presentation by the Center’s Director, Sowba Rao, mental math live demonstration by the students, and the annual awards ceremony.

Sowba Rao stressed the importance of learning mental arithmetic skills at a young age using ALOHA’s structured system. She explained the benefits of learning mental math skills for young children which improves concentration, attention span and memory, adding that it also builds analytical skills, critical thinking and problem solving.

Much to the delight of the Mayor and other guests, several students demonstrated their amazing mental math skills developed through the ALOHA junior and senior mind math program. Mayor Hayes was highly impressed with the ALOHA students’ ability to solve complex arithmetic problems mentally, as well as using the abacus.

Before presenting the graduation trophies and achievement awards, Mayor Hayes told the youngsters that they represented the future, placed emphasis on early childhood education and asked them to work hard towards success.

Mayor Hayes, who is a big supporter of small business and education, also offered his support and encouragement to Anand and Sowba Rao, the new owners of Mount Prospect ALOHA center.

The open house was a grand success with a good turnout. In addition to learning about the ALOHA mind math program, everyone enjoyed games, face painting, and of course a wide variety of snacks.
