Id-e-Milad falls on December 2, which is a Saturday, and it will be a dry day. Id-e-Milad or Milad un-Nabi is a festival, which marks the birthday of Prophet Muhammad. It is a religious event with prayer meetings, parades, communal meals and other programs. On this day, people discuss the teachings of the Prophet and the elders of the community, convey Prophet’s message.  People also visit the mosque and read namaz. Special foods are prepared for the occasion and people wear traditional clothes. In India, it is a gazetted holiday, so banks and government offices will remain closed along with businesses, stores and other organizations. The liquor shops will also remain closed.
