Summertime is the perfect season to flaunt your arms and shoulders thanks to the unbearable heat. If you love wearing sleeveless tops and spaghetti dresses but avoid doing so due to dark underarms, here’s some good news for you. You can lighten them using natural ingredients at home. Underarms darken due to excessive shaving and the accumulation of dead skin cells. Certain body sprays also cause skin darkening and because we often use them on our underarms, they become the victim. However, you can lighten dark underarms using the following home remedies. These will help restore the natural color of your skin and lighten them at least by two-three shades. However, home remedies take a bit of time to show results so make sure you don’t give up after the first attempt expecting dramatic results. (ALSO SEE Tips to get rid of dark underarms)

Dip a cotton ball and apply it on your underarms. Leave it on for 10 minutes and then wash off with water. Make sure you apply sunscreen before you step outside as lemon can also darken the skin when exposed to sunlight.

Use cream from full fat milk as it will be thicker. (ALSO SEE How to get a fairer butt)

Turmeric is one of the most widely used beauty ingredients in India since ancient times and for a reason. Most brides have a special ceremony before the wedding called haldi where they are covered in turmeric to add a natural glow to their complexion. Mix a little turmeric powder with milk and then apply this paste on your underarms. Wash it off with water after five to 10 minutes. Turmeric leaves a yellow tinge that fades off later so make sure you don’t have to show off your underarms right after using this remedy.

Gram flour

Gram flour or besan is another ingredient that is used to take off impurities from the skin and make it look bright and glowing. Use this again with milk to make a paste and then apply it on your underarms. Let the paste dry up and then wash off with lukewarm water. You will see an instant result in your skin tone. Don’t make the paste very thick as it will form a thick layer and take up more time to dry. (ALSO SEE How to get pink lips naturally)
