After the hot summer, monsoon is a welcome change. Most of us love the pitter-patter of rain, the smell of the earth, the clean air and the greenery. However, it could be a challenge to commute during monsoon. The mucky roads, crowded trains and dirty feet, leave us looking not-very presentable. It can be very tricky to choose a style during monsoon that is comfortable and fashionable. It is more difficult when you have to wear semi formal or strictly formal attire in your office. You need to choose fabrics that are perfect for monsoon. So here are some dressing tips for your office to look smart and feel comfortable during this monsoon.
No long trousers
You shouldn’t wear long skirts or trousers as they might get dirty on your way to the office. Instead go for knee-length formal skirts or if your office allows, wear Capri pants.
Do not wear patialas or salwars
If you usually wear Indian formals at your workplace, then go for leggings or churidar in dark color instead of wearing patialas or salwar. Wear short kurtis and use a short polyster or soft cotton scarf instead of a long dupatta. Do not use fabrics like bandhani as the color bleeds when wet. Avoid wearing jeans, linen, wool and thick fabric
It is a very bad idea to wear denims during monsoon. If the your jeans get wet, you will have to spend the entire day in that. Jeans and other thick fabrics soak up water and take longer to dry.
Wear light fabric
It is better to wear polyester or rayon fabric during monsoon as they are easy to dry and are wrinkle free. Stay away from whites and pastel colors as they get stained easily and become transparent when drenched. Wear bright colors during monsoon to brighten up the grey and dull weather. Use a raincoat or trench coat
An umbrella will not protect you against heavy rains. If drying and storing is not an issue at your office, then go for trench coats or transparent raincoats. Trench coat goes well with formal attire and will keep you warm.
Wrinkle free shirts and rubber soled shoes for men
Instead of cotton shirts, you can wear wrinkle free shirts with short sleeves. Wear trench coat or jackets to stay dry during the rains. Instead of your regular leather shoes, wear shoes with rubber soles. If your workplace has a strict dress code, carry your shoes in your bag and wear them when you reach your office.
