In winters as we don’t sweat much, we seldom realize the need to drink water, but staying hydrated is very important during winters. Not drinking enough water can rob your skin of its moisture. Hence, water intake must be maximum to keep body moisturized from inside.
Don’t forget to exfoliate
People often assume exfoliation dries the skin more in winters, but you need to exfoliate the skin during winters as well, as the skin is dry and the dead cells in it prevent the moisture from getting in it. You can use a rich and nourishing exfoliator that not only removes the dead cells but also polishes and nourishes your skin; for example Alanna’s Age No Bar Almond Scrub.
Keep it moisturized
In order to maintain a healthy skin always moisturize your skin. Moisturizing rejuvenates the skin by providing it the required nutrients making it radiant and youthful. When choosing a moisturizer, go for the one which is rich in quality but at the same time isn’t too greasy as you don’t want excessive oil on your skin. Always read the key-components and its skin-friendliness with specific types to avoid skin problems. The ones with 100 % natural ingredients make the best choice as they are made out plants and flowers extracts, providing maximized result without the fear of skin reactions. Using hand and foot creams regularly will help you get rid of cracked heels and rough hands.
Adapt good lifestyle and eating habits
What we eat is how we look. Our lifestyle and food habits depict the quality of our skin. Eating a lot of fruits will eventually increase the water content in your body that will keep your face glowing. Avoid Smoking, eating junk or fast-food as they have an adverse effect on the skin. Including green-leafy vegetables and fresh fruits in your meals adds to the nutritional value of your skin. Similarly, using nature-friendly skin-care products uplifts your skin giving it a natural glow.
Treat your lips with care
Lips are one of the most delicate parts of the body. In winters your lips tend to get dry, which makes them chapped and flaky. Using a lip-scrub and lip balm helps to retain its moisture. Protecting your lips with an all-natural lip scrub and lip balm will work great.
Chemical free products is the key
As winter skin is more fragile, try to avoid products that are chemical based, rather opt for products made from natural ingredients. Use face masks that are non-clay based and rich in either lavender, rose and Moroccan oil as they do wonders for your skin. Avoid using products that have free parabens, sulphates, SLS etc. (ALSO READ Skincare for Men: 5 Overnight Hacks For Men to Wake Up Looking Younger!).
SPF is a must
The sun might not be harsh during winters but you still need a protection against harmful UV ray that is hitting your skin. Therefore, protecting your skin is crucial ahead of stepping out on a sunny day. Applying a sun-screen lotion helps in protecting the skin from dullness. Invest in a sunscreen that suits your skin type with a balanced SPF and has natural UV fighting agent to keep it radiant and glowing.
Get away with the itchy, dry scalp
The dry atmosphere and cold weather elements decrease the moisture from our hair and scalp, resulting in dry, dehydrated, itchy, irritated and flaky scalp. Before getting in the shower, massage the scalp with Vitamin E, olive, or coconut oil or various natural oils. These oils replenish natural scalp oils and can moisturize dry hair too. You can also take cooler, quicker showers to reduce the scalps exposure to drying hot water. This will reduce the itchiness and dryness of the scalp eventually.
Switch to lukewarm water
Drinking Lukewarm water during winter not only helps in getting rid of throat and nasal congestion but also flushes out the all the harmful toxins from your body thereby cleansing it from within. Thus giving a natural glow to your skin. It also increases the elasticity of your skin
Treat your nails too
We seldom realize but our nails also need care during winter to stay strong and moisturized. As the air is dry in winter it soaks away the moisture of your nails leaving it susceptible to breakage .It also dries the cuticles that makes it peel which can prove to be painful. So I would suggest you when applying a moisturizer after a shower make sure to include your nails and cuticles too. Putting a coat of transparent nail paint can also protect you nails from the harsh effects of the environment in winter.
