Arun Jaitley begins two-day visit to Jammu, a day after ceasefire violations

Srinagar, June 14: Defence Minister Arun Jaitley on Saturday visited Raj Bhavan in Srinagar; a day after ceasefire violations along the Line of Control (LoC) was reported.

Jaitley is on a two-day visit to the state and will be reviewing the security situation with the state government and senior military officials. This will be his first visit to the state since assuming charge as the defence minister last month.

Yesterday, Pakistan troops violated the ceasefire by targeting Indian posts along the LoC in Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir with heavy firing, drawing retaliation by Indian forces.

Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah later questioned the timing of the violation of ceasefire, as it had happened at a time when the Defence Minister was about to visit the state and called it a matter of speculation.
