Tourists flock to Kashmir in record breaking summer heat

Srinagar, June 11 : All roads are leading to Kashmir this summer as the temperaturescontinue to soar in other parts of India. The pleasant weather in the Kashmir valley has been attracting tourists in large numbers.Hundreds of tourists are thronging the hill stations of Sonamarg, Pahalgam and Gulmarg as the weather there is soothing and pleasant.While Jammu recorded the season’s maximum temperature at 44.2 degrees, Srinagar recorded a balmy 29.7 degrees as the day’s maximum temperature on Friday.

Pahalgam recorded 26.6 as the day’s maximum and 6.5 as the minimum on Saturday while Gulmarg was cool at 8.3 degrees celsius.Kashmir is these days witnessing full bookings where in most of the hotels and houseboats are packed.The locals are hoping to have a boost in business with this rush.

Vana Singh, a tourist, said, “The weather is good here and there are many tourists here. We had to buy sweaters here.”
