Are the Twilight Saga: New Moon co stars faking it?

Bella and Edward seen smooching off screen

How much more publicity does the Twilight Saga: New Moon actually need at this moment? There are enough twi-hards already in the world to make for a gargantuan opening.

According to new reports, the two Twilight stars Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart spent the night together at Hollywood's famed Chateau Marmont, and this is just days after the Vanity Fair interview was released. And according to onlookers the couple shared breakfast together from Noah's Bagels to be followed by a trip to a private screening of New Moon. Oh and did we mention they got hot and heavy in public?

According to a source "Rob wanted a cigarette so he went outside with Kristen for about 15 minutes. They were hugging, as Rob was smoking his cigarette and then he leaned down and kissed her on the lips. He had his arm around her almost the whole time."

Goodness, if this isn't cheap publicity we don't know what is. Robert and Kristen shared absolutely no chemistry in the original Twilight that released over a year ago, and we're expected to believe that the duo are 'together', just because they appeared in dozens of magazines with titillating photo shoots, and that half baked pretense show at the MTV awards? The gimmick worked with Zach Efron and that-girl-from-high-school-musical, but it doesn't look too legit in this case.

Last year Twilight grossed $384 million worldwide, and New Moon will surely make much more than that, what with the buildup its been getting over the year, and twi hards going gaga over the supposedly stunning new trailers. But why all the packaged, nonexistent romance off screen thrown in our faces? Robert and Kristen reportedly broke up and made up three times since Catherine Hardwicke began filming Twilight. Why is it so necessary that it has to be shown to the world that the leads are romantically involved? So that the movie makes more money? Show us a well made film, instead of a mediocre corny, badly acted one, and we'll make the dough for you. We'll take a decent film anytime, rather than cheap publicity.

The books Twilight, New Moon, Eclipse and Breaking Dawn together have sold more than 70 million copies in more than 35 languages worldwide, winning multiple literary awards in the process. Director Weitz stated that New Moon should stand on its own, rather than being branded as 'a sequel to a hit film'. "I had a really good time on this movie," said Kristen Stewart, 19. "It was intense. Just because of the nature of the story it goes in a completely different direction. We undermine the first. We establish a very ideological kind of love (in Twilight) and basically tell our main character, our main protagonist, that she was wrong (in New Moon).

"What I really love about New Moon is that you see this girl build herself back up and by the time she makes this sort of rash decision to spend eternity with a vampire, she's in a position where you actually believe her," added the actress.

New Moon is directed by Chris Weitz and stars Robert Pattinson, Kristen Stewart, Taylor Lautner, Jackson Rathbone, Dakota Fanning, Chaske Spencer, Bronson Pelletier, Alex Meraz, Kiowa Gordon, Tyson Houseman, Jamie Campbell-Bower, Michael Sheen, Cameron Bright, Graham Greene, Daniel Cudmore, Kellan Lutz, Ashley Greene and Billy Burke. Twilight will release on November 20th in India while New Moon comes on December 4th.
