Coming Soon - Saif and Anil Kapoor in Race 2

Sequel mania hits Bollywood

'Race' is one of the films on the list of terrible movies that made a lot of money. Fans will be pleased as the film has now become a franchise, and the sequel is slated to release in 2011.

The tentatively titled 'Race 2' will once again be directed by Abbas-Mustan and as expected Kareena Kapoor may be signed on for the film. Race 2 will begin shooting in Match 2010 and according to producer Ramesh Tauranu, it will be better than the original film. "In February or March 2010 `Race 2` will go on floors. The film will certainly be bigger and better than the first part. If you thought that the twists and turns in `Race` were deadly, then watch out for the sequel. There are many more surprises in the offing," Taurani told reporters.

'Race' has Saif Ali Khan, Akshaye Khanna, Katrina Kaif and Bipasha Basu in the lead roles. The film revolved around two brothers Said and Akshay who resort to murder and treachery to outdo each other. The climax was left for the audience to decipher, and Akshaye Khanna and Katrina Kaif, who were supposed to be dead were never shown on screen. We can expect the duo to be back for the sequel. "Along with Saif, even Anil Kapoor is finalised for `Race 2`. These two are integral elements of the film and cannot be done away with. For the rest of the cast, the decision would be taken once the script is finalised. Expectations are so high from the film that we have to be doubly sure before we start shooting," said Taurani.

"Whether Bipasha Basu, Katrina Kaif or Akshaye Khanna would be repeated in the sequel or if Kareena Kapoor would be added to the cast or would replace any of the earlier leading ladies is something I can`t comment on right now. Let the script be ready and we will decide on the balance star cast," he added.

Abbas-Mustan blatently plagiarised the 1998 flick 'Goodbye Lover' for Race, which Hollywood DVD do you think they would use to direct 'Race 2'?
