Shiv Sena attacks Shahrukh Khan's house

For supporting Pakistan

Bal Thackeray's Shiv Sena held a demonstration outside Shahrukh Khan's home 'Mannat' on Sunday to protest against the actor's compassion for the Pakistani cricketers. The protest was led by Shiv Sena leader and MLC Anil Parab. "Shahrukh should go to Pakistan if he wants to speak in favour of Pakistani players," he said.

Some of the men brought along a mock travel ticket from Mumbai to Pakistan for Shahrukh and demanded the ban of all of his films, including the upcoming big budget Karan Johar flick 'My Name is Khan'. The Sena members even advised Shahrukh to make Pakistani terrorist Ajmal Kasab the captain of his team, the Kolkata Knight Riders, apart from hiring Afzal Guru, who is under a death sentence for the attack on Parliament.
Senior party leader Manohar Joshi said, "this is the issue of patriotism and Shah Rukh should not interfere in politics. Shah Rukh has been staying in Mumbai for years but he never spoken anything for Marathi," Joshi said. The security has been beefed up outside SRK's home and dozens of policemen have been deployed to counter any further attacks.

The protest was directed towards SRK who claimed that the Pakistani players, who were allegedly snubbed in the IPL auctions deserve to be respected. Back in 2008 Shahrukh and Shoaib Akhtar were seen embracing after the Kolkata Knight Riders won a match against the Delhi Daredevils. The image portrayed strenghtening ties between India and Pakistan. "They are the champions, they are wonderful but somewhere down the line there is an issue and we can't deny it. We are known to invite everyone. We should have. If there were any issues, they should have been put on board earlier. Everything can happen respectfully." he had said.

However Sena spokesperson Sanjay Raut was not the least bit impressed with Shahrukh's remarks. "If Shahrukh wants Pakistani players to play here, he should go to Karachi and Islamabad to play with them," he said. The Shiv Sena had on Saturday advised SRK to behave like Amitabh Bachchan. Sanjay Raut had said: "Amitabh Bachchan had declined to accept the award of Brisbane University because it was nation''s sentiment in the wake of unending violence against Indian students in Australia. People should learn something."

Earlier Bal Thackeray had called Aamir and Shahrukh Khan '2 idiots', "In real life, Aamir and Shah Rukh have been proved as '2 Idiots' as both are making stupid statements supporting the cause of Pakistani cricketers," he had said, "On the one hand, while SRK is openly displaying his love for Pakistani players, Aamir has even put nationalistic sentiments in his utterances on this issue. According to Aamir, if any cricketer is good, he would like to have him in his team, it makes no difference to him which country he belongs to. Shiv Sena Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Raut said if the actor was so keen on them, "he could go play his matches in Lahore, not in India". Thane Shiv Sena leader Eknath Shinde announced that no film of Shah Rukh would be screened in the district.
