New Delhi, Apr 9 (PTI) Aluminium prices rose by Rs 5 per kg at the non-ferrous metal market today tracking a firm trend overseas.

Traders said, buying activity in aluminium picked up after it rallied in global markets on concerns that sanctions by the US on aluminium giant Rusal could hamper trade in some 7 per cent of the world’s annual supply of the metal.

The US on Friday imposed sanctions against Russian businessmen, companies and government officials.

Meanwhile, aluminium for delivery in three month rallied 2 per cent to USD 2,082 per tonne, adding to a 1.6 per cent gain on Friday and taking prices to the highest since March 22 on the London Metal Exchange.

In the national capital, aluminium ingots, sheet cutting, wire scrap and utensils scrap were trading up by Rs 5 each to Rs 159, Rs 155, Rs 155 and Rs 153 per kg, respectively.

Following are today’s metal rates (in Rs per kg): Zinc ingot Rs 126-132, nickel plate (4×4) Rs 825-830, gun metal scrap Rs 227, bell metal scrap Rs 229, copper mixed scrap Rs 420, chadri deshi Rs 295.

Lead ingot Rs 123, lead imported Rs 130, aluminium ingots Rs 155, aluminium sheet cutting Rs 155, aluminium wire scrap Rs 155 and aluminium utensils scrap Rs 153.
