Coimbatore, Feb 14 (PTI) A leopard, which mauled to death a 4-year-old boy a week ago in Valparai area here, was trapped by forest department officials earlier today.

The boy was standing near his house at around 7 pm on February 8 when he was attacked by the leopard.

The body of the boy, with bite marks on the neck and severed head, was found lying about a kilometre from the house.

Forest department officials, after noticing pug marks, had installed three traps around the Nadumalai Estate area, they said.

The big cat, aged about five years, was found lying in the trap around 4.30 am today, police said.

Locals have urged the officials to continue the vigil since movements of more leopards were detected in and around the area, police added.
