New Delhi, Sep 15 (PTI) A Delhi court has summoned a senior Kashmir Administrative Service (KAS) officer in a case of alleged sexual harassment of a junior colleague while he was posted here as Additional Resident Commissioner in 2015.

Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sumit Dass summoned the officer while rejecting a closure report filed by Delhi Police, saying there was is ample material to proceed with the matter.

The court said conclusions by the investigating officer were not correct and to the contrary there is ample and sufficient material which warrants summoning of the accused to face trial for the offence under sections 354 A (sexual harassment) and 509 (insult the modesty of a woman).

“Issue summons to accused through the Resident Commissioner, Jammu and Kashmir House, New Delhi,” the court said while asking the accused to appear before it on November 16.

The court noted that there were clear and categorical allegations against the accused and the correctness and veracity of those statement could be ascertained once the trial is concluded.

Earlier, a closure report was filed before a Delhi court.

The complainant, however, opposed the report.

An FIR was registered in February 2015 on a complaint filed by the woman officer alleging sexual harassment, criminal intimidation and insult of her modesty.

The police, however, filed a closure report in May 2016 saying there was evidence against the accused officer.
